Photo Archive 2005: January – June

Regionals – June 25-28.  John’s team represented Georgia as U15 State Champions at the Southern Regional Championships in Frisco, Texas.  I also shot all the other Georgia teams who were there.

State Cup - John. John’s team had an amazing run at State Cup 2005.  They won all 5 games and defeated the higher-seeded team to become State Champions.

State Cup - Chris.  Chris’ team played in their first Georgia State Cup.  His teammates decorated his car to show team spirit.  Here are some shots of their game vs. Norcross.

Graduation – May 28.  Drew graduated from Forsyth Central High School.  Proud grandparents Barbara and Ruthie and Steve were in attendance.

John’s team played Chris’ team in the final of the U17 division of the Canterbury Cup tournament.  John’s team won.  Here are pictures of John’s team; here are pictures of Chris’ team.  Mom and Steve were there to see the epic battle between their grandchildren.

Stealth vs. Old Capital SL – May 1.  We went to watch Chris’s club team play a Spring league game against a team from central Georgia.  Also see some pictures of John at the game.

Lovett vs. Toombs – April 30.  Chris’ High School team played a State playoff game against Toombs County in South GA.  Lovett won big and went on to become a semifinalist.  Lovett Site.

I spent the spring and summer working with an exciting Boulder-based start-up company, Envysion.

Critters – wildlife spotted around Boulder in the Spring.  Also an amazing picture of Debbie’s dog Molly resisting temptation.

Boulder Force vs. eXplosion – April 16.  We checked out the local youth soccer club and I took some pictures of a U15B game as long as I was there.

Snow in AprilDenver had a huge blizzard that dropped 18 inches of snow in the middle of Spring!  We only got about 4-6 inches in Boulder but it looked funny on the budding flowers.

Spring Break – John enjoyed having us drive him up into the canyons outside of Boulder so that he could ride his bike several miles downhill!

Sand Creek race – April 9.  John ran in this Denver-area race while out with us for his Spring Break.  You can also see some shots of the cute groundhogs that are ubiquitous out West.

Aaron and Holly – April 3.  We had a great visit at the home of college friend Aaron.  Our dogs played with their dogs, mostly nicely.  Aaron and Holly train dogs for seeing eye work, and their pets are retired, future or “redirected” from that program.

Bowling with Drew and John – March 19.  We had a fun evening with the boys on a trip back to Atlanta.

Chris in Boulder – March 4.  Chris and Debbie stopped by on the way to a Spring Break ski vacation.  Chris enjoyed getting a taste of college-town life, and the dogs enjoyed having a playmate.

Rocky Mountain Oyster-Eating Contest – March 13.  We went to nearby Nederland, CO for their famous Frozen Dead Guy Days celebration.  These pictures are from one of the events.  If you don’t know what Rocky Mountain Oysters are, Google it.  We did not try any!

John’s high school soccer game – Pictures from a Feb. 25 JV game for the Forsyth Central Bulldogs.  John was a key player on this team, playing center-mid for most of the game.

John in Phoenix– We joined John’s team at the President’s Cup tournament in Phoenix in February.  An unusual stint of rain made the fields unplayable and canceled the tournament, but they got some friendlies in, including one against the Boston Bolts team that went on to win the National Championship that year.

Scott, Stephanie and Savannah came for dinner in February.  We always enjoy spending time with these longtime friends.

Talentshow MarieMarie’s talent show – Great pictures of Marie in her first-grade talent show.  There is also a priceless picture of Marie with the pink playhouse that Steve and Amy built for her in the basement.  To keep her out of the basement before Xmas, they told her the basement was being “treated for termites!

Ryan and Michael skiingthanks to our former neighbor Dee for this picture of her sons skiing.  The family now lives in Colorado.

BlizzJumpsMy photo of Blizzard won honorable-mention in the AJC “Muttminster” pet photo contest – Feb. 11.

John’s Fall 2004-Winter 2005 soccer season highlights,  He played U15 for the Silverbacks 08 Red Boys.
