Families in the US and Canada who spell Lachance with a small “c” are almost all descended from a single ancestor.  Antoine Pepin, a descendent of Charlemagne, migrated from France to Canada in the mid 1600s.  He was given the nickname “Lachance” (‘luck’ in French), and became know as “Pepin dit (‘called’ in French) Lachance”

Frank is descended from the Louis Phillippe Lachance and Marie-Louise Magnan (b. ~1852) line.  If you are, too, email me.
