Juneau is the only US state capitol that cannot be reached by road. As the locals say, you can only get here three ways: By boat, by plane, or by birth. We went out with Captain Greg Brown on his souped-up catamaran Weather Permitting, accompanied by Naturalist Chris. We only saw a couple whales, but we saw seals, eagles, seagulls and other wildlife enough to keep us engaged - and my camera clicking - for hours. We stopped at a salmon cannery for caviar, and ended up shopping in downtown Juneau.

Seals congregting on a large rock beach, being kept in line by one very large grey seal. We called him ‘Jabba the Seal”.
