Boulder and the Rapids - July 4

We had lunch on the downtown mall on July 4, and as we walked around I captured some of the eclectic scene - click any image for a larger view Kids playing in a big sandbox And climbing on boulders A silent vigil for peace A trendy young lady John got some ice cream Freddie’s hot dog stand (his rival Eddie took the day off) Musicians played the flute And the guitar A child got a balloon And another one played with her dog Rocking pig outside a kids’ clothing store That night, we headed to Mile High Stadium to watch the Colorado Rapids play soccer John was attentive in the audience The screen showed patriotic videos as the teams warmed up The Rapids mascot, H2O-man Pregame scene: local youth soccer teams formed a bridge to welcome the players, refs and cheerleaders Great game. Rapids won 1-0. The half-time show included a soccer game between mascots The holiday game was capped with fireworks More fireworks Check out the glowing Bronco under the fireworks display Grand Finale
